As early as 1952 an All India Examination Conference was held under the Chairmanship of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to constitute a Board to replace the erstwhile Cambridge School Certificate Examination. This finally came to fruition in 1973, for "Public Examinations". Since 1974 to date the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination has come to be the very backbone of Secondary Education not only in India but also overseas.
St. Augustine's received its affiliation to the CISCE in 1982 and since then has strictly adhered by its credo" Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations is committed to serving the nation's children, through high quality educational endeavours, empowering them to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society, promoting introspective living, by creating exciting learning opportunities, with a commitment to excellence."
